Now that Spotify Wrapped is available, we must examine our true selves as music lovers.

Spotify Wrapped provides data-driven insights on users’ listening habits, whether you’re surprised by your top songs or are more self-aware of your playlists.

A comprehensive summary of the top artists, albums, songs, and podcasts on Spotify is available to users, along with a wealth of additional data such as the most popular genres and the cities inhabited by fans who share their tastes.

According to Spotify, 574 million users listened to its service globally this year. With more than 26.1 billion global streams, Taylor Swift is their most popular artist worldwide. The Weeknd, Peso Pluma, Drake, and Bad Bunny complete the Top 5.

Keep an eye out for the following new features:

  • In 2023, I envision users being able to select from a dozen characters generated by Spotify to best represent their listening preferences. Characters like the Alchemist (“you make your own playlists more often than others”), the Luminary (“you play light, upbeat music more than others”), and the Shapeshifter (“you’re quick to move from one artist to the next”) are examples.
  • Sound Town: Based on shared artist affinity and listening data, users will be paired with a city. Cities can exist anywhere on the planet.
brand-new to Spotify The genre sandwich, which displays users’ preferred genres in a sandwich layout, was introduced in 2023.

The following describes the updates made to user-favorite Spotify Wrapped features:

Users’ top five musical genres will be shown in a sandwich-inspired style thanks to the “Top 5 Genres” function.
Beyond only listing musicians, Top 5 artists allows viewers to view the month in which each artist’s popularity peaked (for example, did you listen to Taylor Swift the most in the month that you had tickets to the Eras Tour? We also.)
Users can view video messages from over 40,000 artists, such as Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Peso Pluma, NewJeans, SZA, KAROL G, and Dolly Parton, under the “Top Artists” section.

Wrapped Feed: This feature consolidates all content into one area on the Spotify Home screen. The greatest editorial playlists, artist merchandise, local performances, and more are all available to users.
For the first week following debut, Spotify’s AI DJ function will lead users through their customized Wrapped experience.
Wrapped Blend: To build a shared playlist with all of your best songs from this year, users can invite friends to make a Blend and use the ‘2023 Wrapped Top Songs’ filter.
